Five-Day Retreat for Graduates (residential)
All our five-day retreats are currently postponed due to the coronavirus crisis. To join online graduate day and weekend retreats, please see our programme here
Who is this retreat for?
This retreat is designed for people who have completed a teacher-led eight-week mindfulness course (such as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) or Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)), have an established, regular meditation practice, and who would like to deepen their experience in a silent retreat setting. Participants must have previously attended at least one all-day silent retreat (such as held as part of an eight-week mindfulness course). The retreat will also be suitable for mindfulness teachers who would like to fulfill the good practice guidelines of attending an annual mindfulness retreat. There will be a maximum of 10 participants on this retreat, which will be taught by Ed Halliwell.
What will the retreat format be?
This retreat will be held mostly in silence, apart from on the first and last day, when there will be opportunity to connect with fellow participants. The practice sessions will be made up of sitting and walking meditation periods, with opportunity also for mindful movement and body scan practices. There will be a mix of lightly guided and unguided meditation, as well as short talks based on themes that arise in our practice and how we might work with them. The first session each day will be before breakfast and the last will be after dinner, and as well as regular meal and refreshment times, there will also be a longer rest/personal practice period after lunch.
